How often should entries be made in the project diary?

Daily

Each day throughout the project's contract

Keeping entries in the project diary on a daily basis throughout the entire contract creates a complete, day-by-day record of what happened on the project. On pavement work, things change from day to day—tasks started, inspections performed, materials delivered, test results, weather conditions, equipment on site, personnel, and any issues or deviations. Recording every day ensures there are no gaps in the history, which is essential for progress tracking, payments, change orders, and QA reviews. Even days with no activity should be noted as such to show the project timeline is continuous. Daily entries throughout the contract prevent missing details that weekly or monthly logs could overlook and help avoid disputes or questions about what occurred.
